A doctor right?
Well why not call a doctor when you have a tooth ache?
He helps with pain right?
You wouldn’t call a doctor… you’d call a dentist…
A doctor won’t help you…
It’s the same thing with Tradesmen and Handyman services…
You just need to know the right person to call for the pain or problem you have…
So how do you work out who you should call?
To work out who you should call, you need to understand what each Trade or Handyman is looking for.
The tricky thing is, they don’t tell you on their website… or even when you call them… they probably don’t even know themselves…
You have to judge them based on the facts…
And… I’m going to show you what they are…
Should you call a Handyman or a Specific Trade?
Say you need 6 decking boards replaced but if you call a carpenter, or a deck builder…. They’re not interested because they are busy making $5000 building a new deck…
Or.. imagine you need a new kitchen tap put in and you call a plumber…
If the plumber doesn’t have much work on, he’ll come to do it, but he’ll try to make as much money as he can from the job… If he’s got a big job on … which all trades are looking for… he’ll never call you back…
What about if you have a hole in your ceiling?
Call a plasterer right???
He really wants to get the contract for a group of new homes where he can plasterboard the whole house and know he’s got work for the next 6 months…
Most trades rely on bigger jobs so they know their employees have work for the next 12 months.
You need to understand… when it comes to specific trades, size does matter…
If your job is less than 1 to 2 days you should consider calling a Handyman.
If your job is going to take a week or two, then consider calling a specific trade…
You can still call a Mornington handyman service for these bigger jobs, but I find, most of the bigger jobs need big crew of guys to get it done…

If you think, “Hey, surely a local Mornington Handyman would have none of the problems the Melbourne based handyman services have”, you would be wrong…
To make sure they have enough work, Mornington Handyman services, travel out to Phillip Island and past the other side of the city…
This means that they’re not just around the corner…
They still need other work in your area to make it profitable and to ultimately take your job…
How do you find a Handyman in Mornington who works Exclusively on the Mornington Peninsula!?
There are 3 ways to tell if the Mornington-based-Handyman-service your looking at works exclusively on the Mornington Peninsula…
- They should have a list of the suburbs they service at the bottom of their page or on their contact page…
- They may have posts on their Facebook page that show work that they did out in Port Melbourne or some other suburb past the city…
- Go to the service pages on their website. Read through and look for words like “Handyman Melbourne” or “Handyman Brighton”… This means they’re trying to get Google to show their website to people in these suburbs…
That’s pretty simple but who has time for that nonsense???
