Fences and Gates Mornington Peninsula

Do you live on the Mornington Peninsula and need small custom Fences and Gates?

Hi, I’m Jason from Handyman on the Mornington Peninsula.

I’m the guy you call when you know you need fence repairs because parts of your fence are falling down… you need fence posts repairs or replaced… or you need a small fence or gate installed…

This is the type of fencing that I do:

Who my service is for… When you would call me

If you need a new run of boundary fencing then it would be better for you to call a fencing contractor who has a whole crew of guys who can get in and get out really quickly.

You should call me when you need a small picket fence or brush screen fence built… or if you’re  having problems with your fence, gate or fence posts.

These are some of the problems that I can help you with:

Broken Fence Post

How can you tell if you need fence post repairs?

Your fence will be very unstable and will be swaying in the wind. If you go up to one of your posts in the unstable section of your fence, you’ll find that if you give it a slight shake, the post will be really wobbly.

Whoa!… not that hard!

I said “a slight shake”

Anyway, the way to repair a fence post is to simply dig it out, set a new post in the ground with concrete, then secure the fence to the new post and rebuild and damaged sections of the fence.

Damaged or missing fence boards

This is another common problem with older fences. The fence may still be really stable but some of the boards have come off or are starting to break.

Replacing fence boards is actually really easy. You just need to measure the current length and width of your fence boards, go to Bunnings and match them up, then secure the new boards to the fence with galvanised nails or screws.

Gate is sagging and not closing properly

There can be a couple of reasons for this. Firstly, sometimes the post that the gate is attached to could be leaning on an angle which causes the gate to drag on the ground or clash with the post as you try to close it.

The way I fix this one is to take off this support timber here:

Wedge the post until it is upright:

Then cut this timber shorter and attach it to the post so it will hold the post in its new position.

The gate should now close without the annoying dragging on the ground or clashing with the post on the other side.

Sometimes, your gate could be sagging because it wasn’t built properly in the first place. You’ll find that the gate is too heavy and too wide for the current support timber.

If the gate is still in good condition, all we have to do is add a proper support timber to take the weight of the gate and it will be closing with no problems at all.

Gate latch is not lining up

You know how sometimes, when you go to close your gate, everything seems normal and fine but then…

WHO moved the latch???

Well… actually, most of the time, Mother Nature is responsible for this little frustration.

Fence posts and timber fences exposed to the weather can shrink, expand and move over time, which will cause the latch to become… well… misaligned.

Fixing latching problems can be as simple as moving the latch so they line up again.

Yep… that’s usually it.

Congratulations… you made it to the end.

You either have something wrong with your fence or you love to listen to local Handymen just blab on.

Either way, I can help you out… If you want some advice on you fence or you need me to fix your gate, you can call or text me on 0466183548.
